A diet rich in fruits and vegetables is considered to be very healthy and is advised by many health professionals, but little do we know how harmful these so called health foods are. The increased use of insecticides and pesticides is a cause of concern. The intention is to kill the bugs, but the toxins in these chemicals are instead killing us, by contaminating our environment. This infographic throws light upon the harmful effects of pesticides.

Pesticides are everywhere; in our food, water and air. Health problems associated with the use of pesticides include hormone disruption; irritation of eyes; lungs and skin; toxicity of brain and nervous system; cancer; birth defects and reproductive effects. Research suggests that residue of at least one pesticide can be found on the produce, even after washing. People who regularly consume pesticide grown food, farmers, young kids and infants are the ones who are at increased risk of being affected with health problems.
