Facts about Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are small parasites that feed on blood. Their bite can cause reddish marks on the skin, sometimes leading to severe allergic reactions. These deep brown colored insects are flat and oval in appearance. Bed bugs are thin, which makes it difficult to spot them and are of the size of two grains of salt. Bed bugs have lived since ages and mostly thrive in temperate regions.

Bed bugs often go undetected, because of their small size. They can be found not only in beds, but also in places such as cracks in the floor, below carpets, behind wallpapers, baseboards, etc. Bed bugs can live on the blood of warm-blooded animals as well. Blood spots on mattresses or furnishings can indicate that the area has been infested with bed bugs.

Different species of bed bugs are known to exist in the world. They can be found even in luggage and clothings. You could be carrying bed bugs to your house when you travel to new places. Find out some facts about bed bugs in this infographic.
