Due to increase in the population, the number of vehicle riders in United States is gradually increasing. This often leads to traffic congestion in few main states and cities of America such as Washington D.C, Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston and New York.

There are several reasons for traffic congestion of which 40% traffic congestions are due to bottle necks, 25% of traffic incidents cause traffic jam, 15% bad weather , 10% work zones and 5% traffic jams are due to poor traffic signaling.

Traffic congestion even costs you money and waste of time. According to Texas Transportation institute, it was reported that every one hour spent in traffic jam will costs time and fuel of worth $21. Every year in United States, 1.6 billion gallons of fuel gets wasted due to traffic congestion and the average yearly cost of each driver in America is $713.

Traffic in America usually gets worse during the week days, so it is suggested to plan trips on weekend as there will be less traffic congestion.
