Most profit making businesses and professionals use technologies. Sometimes they invent new technologies in order to meet their goals. They can buy a technology since they earn profits. But when it comes to nonprofits, using technologies often involves lots of pains. NTEN, a nonprofit technology network comes up with interesting facts and figures.

From the side of budget, most organizations spend a very little budgets on technology. The average technology budget is 5% of the total organizational operating budget. When it comes to adoption of technologies, 8.3% of small organizations seems to be leading in adapting technologies while 20.8% of very large organizations found to be doing well.

However, non-profit organizations may not have control over their annual operating budget but they may have control over their approach to technology decisions. The survey says any organization can improve its technology effectiveness. It can be concluded that smart investments on technology can offer good results.
