A team of 3300 scientists, after a 30 years of discovery process at the world’s biggest atom smasher in Switzerland, is believed to have found the much anticipated Higgs Boson, a new subatomic particle popularly known as God Particle.
The Higgs is the last missing piece of the standard model, which describes the basic building blocks of the Universe. Higgs Boson is an elementary particle that gives mass to other elementary particles such as quarks and electrons.
Discovery of Higgs Boson provides validity for the standard model. The God Particle helps better understanding how the universe was began and why mass is common all matters. However, according to CERN (Center for European Nuclear Research), our knowledge of the fundamental structure of matter will take a major step forward.
