Save Trees by Recycling Moving Boxes

Moving has adverse impacts on our environment. Because, on an average a move requires 60 boxes, which consume more than half of a one ton pine tree.  Approximately, 42 million moves occur per year in the US.

To make all those moves, 28,560,000 trees are required, 132,720,000 gallons of oil is burned. The moves can create 1,680,060 gallons of air pollution, and occupy 5,040,000 cubic yards of land. Americans are likely to make at least 11 moves in life time.

But if you exercise recycling concept of all 660 boxes, you can save 7 trees and 18, 480 KW of energy, 3,080 gallons of water. Moreover, recycled boxes require only 75% of energy used for making new boxes.

earth911.com offers tips and insights on recycling. However, just being aware of your impact is a really good start in helping the planet.
