
According to the “Healthy People 2020 Breastfeeding Objectives“, the required percentage for ever breastfed is 81.9%, for at 6 months is 60.6% and for at 12 months is 34.1%. Out of the 5o states in US, only 12 states have the required percentage of more than 81.9% in ever breastfed. Oregon State is in no. 1 position in this regard with 91.2%.
Only 5 States (Vermont, Utah, Oregon, Montana and Idaho) have met the sufficient percent in case of breastfeeding at 6 months. In this regard, Vermont excels among all with 63.2%. The number of states which met healthy objectives in case of breastfeeding at 12 months is only 4, which are California with 40%, Oregon with 34.5%, Vermont with 37.1% and Washington with 35%.
In fact it is only Oregon and Vermont which have met the standards in all aspects set in Breastfeeding Report Card.
