The highest grossing animated movie ever is the all time favorite – Toy Story 3. It also won Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. Distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, this film accounted worldwide for more than $1,063 million.

The Lion King, another movie which was distributed by Walt Disney Pictures collected $951 million.

The 3rd in this list is Shrek 2, produced by DreamWorks Animation. Its worldwide grossing  is $919.8 million. In fact most of highest grossing animated movies have been either produced by DreamWorks Animation or Walt Disney Pictures. The next movie that grossed more than $886.6 million is Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs produced by 20th Century Fox.
